Don't worry....you are not alone! Since I've been eating, sleeping and drinking Michelada's for some time now, I'm a bit surprised to find how many people there are that still are unaware and have not yet tried a Michelada. It was actually named one of the years top food and beverage trends by the famed Baum + Whiteman restaurant consultants.
A Michelada, simply put is a Mexican beer cocktail that is both savory and spicy, and very refreshing (and addicting). It has often been likened to our Bloody Mary and is a very popular in Mexico, other latin countries as well as the border states here in the U.S. They originated in Mexico and although there are several "stories" as to the origin that you can find on the internet, but the truth is no one really knows exactly how they got their name or start. There is also debate about the "correct" way to make a Michelada. Just like the Bloody Mary, there are as many recipes as there are bars, and who's to say what is the right way. Some use tomato or clamato in their Michelada, some don't. It comes down to personal preference. Our mix is a very concentrated blend of spices, sauces, and lime juice.
